Our turf comes from Daley's Turf in Beerwah. Below are details about the features of the 4 different varieties available. More information can be found on the Daley's website.
Watering your lawn as soon as you start laying it and for the first 1-2 weeks to make sure that the turf matt doesn’t dry out is the most important thing to do for your new lawn.

Sir Walter Buffalo
Sir Walter DNA Certified is one of the very best performing Buffalo grasses in shady areas and can thrive with as little as 3-4 hours* of sunlight per day (*between the hours of 9am – 3pm). Sir Walter’s roots grow deep into the subsoil gathering the moisture. A Sir Walter lawn can reduce the heat generated from the sun by up to 10 degrees!

Nullabour Couch
Nullarbor Couch is a fine leaf grass that grows best in full sun, and requires at least 5-6 hrs of sunlight per day.
It provides a good dense cover with a strong horizontal growth habit with good tolerance to low mowing.

TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda
TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda is a grass that has been bred to stand up to drought conditions and save you water…and money! This variety has a very fine leaf blade with dense growth, making it ideal for a wide variety of applications. Its density enables it to handle high wear situations such as playgrounds, backyards and sports fields whilst its fine blade ensures shade tolerance and a very soft leaf to walk on.

Sir Grange Zoysia
Sir Grange is hardy and tough. It suits full sun situations and has high drought tolerance, once established.
Sir Grange also has a high tolerance for foot traffic and wear, with excellent self-repairing capability, once the root zone is established to a depth of 200mm. Make sure you prepare your base to allow this root growth using a quality sand loam such as our Under Turf Soil.
Sir Grange also requires regular watering and the Daleys Turf team recommends installing an irrigation system prior to laying this variety of turf.

Fertilising your Lawn
Regular applications of fertiliser are essential for strong, healthy and deep rooted lawns.
A mixture of organic and artificial fertiliser is recommended to promote steady growth, and the best times to do that are Autumn and Spring.
Depending upon your soil, it may be necessary to fertilise more in the first couple of years until the roots of the turf have fully established.
For an even distribution use a fertiliser spreader. You can purchase a hand held or a push along version from Bunnings.
Treating Lawn Grub and Army Worm
Both lawn grub and army worm are prevalent in South East Qld. They can devastate a lawn within a matter of days. They can also re-infest numerous times during the season.

Due to the rate at which grubs feed (and destroy your lawn) use a fast acting insecticide such as Lawn Solutions Grub Guard

If rain coming apply the treatment while the rain is falling.

If you are treating during a dry spell remember to water the insecticide into the lawn.

Apply the treatment again in two weeks – eggs can take two to five weeks to hatch.
