Whether you're an experienced collector or a beginner gardener, our wide range of cacti suits all tastes and levels of expertise.

Cacti are a versatile and hardy plant choice that brings a touch of the exotic to any space. Perfect for adding architectural interest to your garden or home, cacti require minimal care and are highly adaptable.

Known for their ability to thrive in dry, sunny conditions, they’re a great option for those looking for low-maintenance plants that make a big impact.

At Doonan Valley Garden Centre, we take pride in sourcing the highest quality cacti from trusted growers and providing our own special varieties.

Our collection includes:

  • Small and Decorative Cacti: Ideal for windowsills, tabletops, or small garden spaces. These compact varieties are perfect for indoor environments.

  • Mature Cacti: For those looking for a statement piece, our larger cacti make a bold and striking addition to any landscape.

  • Rare and Exotic Varieties: From the classic Saguaro to the unusual but fascinating species like the Moon Cactus or Old Man Cactus, we carry a selection of rare and hard-to-find cacti

Cacti are among the easiest plants to care for, but like any living thing, they do have specific needs. Here are a few tips to keep your cacti thriving:

  1. Sunlight - Cacti love sunlight. Place them in a bright, sunny spot—preferably near a south-facing window.

  2. Watering - Overwatering is the most common mistake. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly in winter when cacti enter a dormant phase.

  3. Temperature - Most cacti prefer warm conditions and can tolerate temperatures between 20°C to 35°C (68°F to 95°F). Avoid placing them in drafty areas or too close to heaters.

  4. Soil and Drainage - Ensure your cactus has well-draining soil. Use cactus or succulent potting mixes, and make sure the container has a drainage hole.

  5. Fertilising - During the growing season (spring and summer), feed your cactus with a diluted cactus-specific fertiliser once a month.
